Starting Point

Why Do Adults Quit Playing Sports?

When I was a kid, I LOVED playing tennis. I'm not sure when or why I stopped playing, but the desire to play again hit me hard last year.

I was ready to dive back in, only to find that the once-simple joy of playing had become a challenging task. Despite our efforts, scheduling a game proved to be a hard task.

This made me think - why is it harder to play tennis as an adult?

I discovered a whole new problem.

When starting this project, I assumed the problem I was trying to solve was time management. However, in my research, I discovered that the real problem was that people struggle with starting and maintaining new habits.

Designing

Building a design system

Tennis has a unique style characterized by minimalism, elegance, and a predominantly white color scheme. I wanted the design to merge functionality with the world of tennis. I also chose green as the branding color for its sporty, healthy, and positive vibe.

Gamification

Based on the research I've done on the target audience and their needs, I thought it would be the best to gamify Fore.

๐ŸŽฏ

๐ŸŽฎ

Sense of Control

Give users a sense of control by letting them decide which milestone they want to achieve next.

app Key Features

โœจ

A smarter way to play

I discovered that 1 out of 3 adults quit playing sports because they feel unskilled. To help them, I designed Fore for smart-equipped tennis courts, driven by AI technology. Sensors and cameras collect real-time data, syncing with the app for insights, performance stats, and personalized tips. It's a virtual coach.

The app desplays the results and helps you improve.

๐ŸŽพ

Play With Friends Easily

Another way to engage adults in playing is to help them match with players of the same level.

I designed a feature specifically for helping players to find other players to play with, with an intuitive way to schedule and invite friends for a match.

Find The Best Spot

One of the biggest reasons adults don't play sports, is the fact they don't know where to start. A simple method to locate a court can help a lot, especially for people who have never played tennis before.

I designed a feature that helps the users to locate the best court for them to play, to reserve it and pay the using fee, if needed.

Refining Screens

After testing and gathering feedback, I realized users desired an overall progress view. To address their feedback, I shortened the list, and added more features instead.
